50 years on
STUDENTS and staff from Queenscliff High School will come together and reminisce on their schooling at the coming 50th reunion.
On October 5, the Seaview House in Queenscliff will host the event, with those who started high school in 1974 or attended between 1974 and 1979 invited.
Event organiser Lorraine Golightly said it’s an opportunity for people to reconnect and catch up on each other’s lives as they mingle throughout the night.
“It will probably be the last one being 50 years, it’s a chance for everybody to come together and just reunite friendships.”
Ms Golightly said it was through Facebook she connected with some of her old schoolmates and where they decided to organise the reunion.
It’s expected around 50 people will make their way to Queenscliff for the event, with students and teachers travelling from across the country.
“We’ve got people coming from Perth, Sydney, South Australia and high parts of Victoria as well, it’s just a chance to bring people back together,” Ms Golightly said.
The reunion has adopted the theme ‘friends don’t tell friends that 1974 was 50 years ago,’ acknowledging the passage of time and adding a touch of humour and nostalgia to the gathering.
“We plan throughout the night to have some little trivia questions and stuff like that, just to try and find out where people’s lives have been, how many kids they’ve got, what their careers were, whether they’re retired, just to create a bit of fun,” Ms Golightly said.
Tickets for the event are $100 and include stand-up finger food, with drinks available at
bar prices. The reunion will begin at 6pm.
Tickets and more information are available from Eventbrite.
