A roaring High Tea for Lions
THE Lions Club of Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads (LOGBH) is hosting a Christmas extravaganza high tea featuring live entertainment, raffles and delectable food on November 10.
Assistant LOGBH president Cynthia Eunson said herself and fellow Lions member Angela Kingston had put the event together, with all proceeds going to the Barwon Health Paediatric Diabetes Clinic via the Barwon Health Foundation.
“With the Lions this year juvenile diabetes is one of the big fundraisers worldwide. I also have a grandson with Type 1 diabetes so we decided will go ahead and raise fund for this important cause,” Mrs Eunson said.
Mrs Eunson said they would be serving high tea, holding a fashion parade and hosting a guest
speaker, with 100 tickets to the event already sold.
“Fiona Scott is a diabetes educator and she will be speaking. A lot of people don’t really understand Type 1 diabetes so it’s a good chance to gain insight.
“There’s more than $2,000 worth of raffle prizes donated by local businesses up for grabs, Lions Christmas cakes for sale and every guest will get a hand crocheted poppy in honour of Remembrance Day.”
The event is on November 10 at the Senior Citizens Hall, 5A Clifford Parade Barwon Heads from 1pm until 3.30pm, tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children .
