MORE than 600 people danced in the sun and helped raise more than $15,000 for the Point Lonsdale Boardriders Club at its annual Lighthouse Party.

Saturday evening’s music extravaganza was touted as “one of the best ever” by club members and the wider public, with the community turning out in force to support the club’s biggest annual fundraiser.

More than 600 people attended the Lighthouse Party event.

Ten musicians featured on the main stage at the event.

All funds will help the club continue its mission to run water to its clubhouse, assist with its junior development programs and widen its breath of events to offer to the community.

The Lighthouse Party was headlined by more than 10 musicians, including DJ extraordinaire Milo Eastwood, Melbourne four-piece Scott & Charlene’s Wedding, and rockers Radio Free Alice.

Food trucks and plenty of beer and cool drinks were also on tap for attendees to whet the appetite.

Point Lonsdale Boardriders Club president Max Lazarus said the event will go down as one for the history books.

“It was just the best crowd, no trouble at all, it was one of our most successful from both a music and a fundraising perspective.

“All the musicians were absolutely epic! Flesh Cherub and Matteo got everyone in the mood, Think of You rocked the crowd, Radio Free Alice were my personal favourite, Scott & Charlene’ Wedding were fantastic, and then Milo Eastwood brought it home. He hit a home run, that’s for sure! He played ‘Around the Twist’, which was just so nostalgic, particularly for many of us who know the TV show was filmed down here in Point Lonsdale.

“All in all, it was just an amazing night.”

Mr Lazarus said the event’s success was a “full community effort” and lauded volunteers who put their hands up to deliver it.

He said the fundraising aspect of the event would go a long way in taking the next level.

“The money gives our club the freedom to open up so many more opportunities and adds depth to our season of events and what we can offer to the community,” he said.

“The power to the clubhouse is earmarked to happen this year which is terrific and the water will follow in the not too distant future.

“The Lonny Groms program is also a focus, which helped to get so many kids and their parents in and around the water.”

More than $15,000 was raised for the Point Lonsdale Boardriders Club.

Attendees enjoyed a few ice-cold Gage Roads beers.
