AS THE cost of landfill rises and environmental concerns grow, the need for practical, community-focused recycling solutions has never been greater.
That’s where Recycle North Geelong come in to help – a new local initiative helping households, businesses, and trades across the City of Greater Geelong rethink the way waste is dealt with.
Conveniently located at 116 Furner Avenue, North Geelong, (behind Coates Hire), this new Recycling Centre and Public Transfer Station officially opens its gates on Friday, August 1 at 7.30am, offering an affordable, accessible, and environmentally responsible alternative to landfill.
Whether clearing out the garage, renovating, upgrading electronics, or just want to do the right thing with waste, Recycle North Geelong makes it easy.
Open seven days a week, Recycle North Geelong operates from a large, all-weather, three-acre undercover facility – meaning rain, hail, or shine, people can unload with ease.
With friendly, helpful staff on site, visitors are never left guessing. Need help figuring out where things go? Just ask – the team is on-site to help.
The range of accepted items is extensive – covering everything from household waste and e-waste to trade materials, whitegoods, and more.
Some items are free to drop off, including:•
Whitegoods such as fridges, ovens, washing machines and dryers
Cardboard (clean, dry, and under 0.5 cubic metres)
Car batteries (with taped terminals)
Clean polystyrene (up to 0.5 cubic metres, bagged)
Paint (up to 100L)
Steel bicycles
Printer cartridges
Mobile phones, and
Scrap metal.

Recycle North Geelong also accepts a wide range of household and office items including indoor and outdoor furniture, TVs, mattresses, small appliances, air conditioners, photocopiers, and even musical instruments.
The facility also accepts a variety of building supplies including bricks, concrete, timber, pallets, glass, pool fencing, green waste, fire extinguishers, and gas bottles.
Even miscellaneous materials such as solar panels, cooking oils, pool chemicals, pesticides, aluminium, copper, and household light bulbs are welcome — as long as they are sealed and labelled where required.
With a focus on reuse, repurposing, and recycling, Recycle North Geelong is helping to divert usable items away from landfill and back into the community — supporting the circular economy and encouraging better habits at the local level.
Visitors are encouraged to Sort and Save, making the experience at Recycle North Geelong even more streamlined, grouping items into categories helps unloading and will save money.

Recycle North Geelong is open Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm, Saturday from 7.30am to 4pm and Sunday 8am until 4pm.
