Aaron Anstis enjoys a break after walking 100 kilometres to help raise money for Make-A-Wish.

HOTONDO Homes builder Aaron Anstis has walked 100 kilometres to victory, raising almost $10,500 in support of Make-A-Wish.

Aaron promised to double his 50-kilometre challenge if he could raise more than $10,000, and after walking for nearly 24 hours straight, was thrilled to discover he had raised a total of $10,468.85.

While the trek proved to push Aaron harder than he could have imagined, passion, determination, and the support of his family and team helped Aaron reach his 100-kilometre goal.

“By the 90-kilometre mark, it was becoming hard to push through, but the support of my wife Sarah, as well as my team throughout the entire challenge, gave me the extra boost I needed to complete the last two laps,” Aaron said.

“I can’t explain how amazing it felt to sign off on that last lap.

“Despite the fatigue, aches and pains, I was a ball of emotions knowing I had achieved exactly what I set out to do – raise a large amount for a cause I am so deeply passionate about.”

Aaron’s passion for Make-A-Wish filtered through his team with the majority of them joining in to complete at least one lap over the course of the challenge.

Sarah and his sons Sunny and Nate also joined him and were there to help him celebrate as he crossed the finish line.

“Having my wife and sons be a part of this made everything even more special. It turned into a real family effort, raising money for other Australian families,” Aaron said.

“There are always ways for everyday Australians to do something great for their community, and this was my way of helping raise funds and awareness about Make-A-Wish and the amazing work they do.

“It was close to 24 hours of walking, and it will go on to create vital wishes that build resilience and change the lives of really sick kids fighting critical illness.”

Aaron wanted to thank everyone at Simon Anderson Consultants, Barwon Timber and Hardware, Stoddart Group, Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes, Thompson Kiss Electrical, Eco Waste Services, Oceanview Plumbing, HRKAC Group and Bellarine Flooring.

Hotondo Homes began its partnership with Make-A-Wish in 2014 and have been committed to helping raise awareness and funds to help make wishes come true.
