AUDIENCES packed the Bayview Room at Portarlington Parks Hall in early February to watch Being Human, a production of 12 monologues performed by leading actors from the Geelong region.
The Main Street Writers, a Portarlington Neighbourhood House based writers’ group, organised the event featuring monologues written by its members. It was the production’s third year and was again directed by Jacqui Connor who is part of the group.
Other local writers who contributed were Shane O’Brien, Gemma Tobschall, Jennifer Morris, Amber Connor, Cherie Roessler, Pearl Wilson, Sandy Wright, Kate Norman and Colin Urquhart.
The group has two remote writers: Jo Chehab, in Melbourne, and Barbara Keppler Cowan in the United States, who also wrote monologues.
The actors included Dale Smithyman, Elva Dandilion, Claudia Clark, Zali Cross, Jules Hart, Isobel Connor-Smithyman, Fred Preston, Paula Kontelj and Terry Roseburgh. Writers, Colin Urquhart and Cherie Roessler, also performed.
