Agriculture Show returns to the Bellarine in style
THE Bellarine Agricultural Show hosted crowds not seen since before the pandemic, marking a successful return for the event after a three-year absence.
Show treasurer Rick Peacock estimated over 3,500 people passed through the gates at Portarlington Recreation Reserve on Sunday (March 12), in the event’s first appearance since 2020.

“We all got back into it from a committee standpoint, and it was really comforting to see people return to the event in droves,” Mr Peacock said.

“Our major change this year of free entry to children under 16 was a big one, thanks to a government grant we received last year to revive the event, it was a really tremendous atmosphere to be a part of.”
As part of the proceedings, state competitions were held including the dog jump and horse riding events, as well several handcraft, cookery and photography stalls.

“The event is only possible with the help of our sponsors, it’s a true community event,” Mr Peacock added.
“A lot of our sponsors helped by assisting on the day and that meant a lot to us.”
