MAJOR improvements to the Ocean Grove Ambulance Station are now complete, giving local paramedics the modern facilities needed to respond to emergencies.

Among the upgrades are refurbished rest areas, medical stores and delivery rooms, improved security and parking, and the addition of a new training room.

Ambulance Victoria (AV) Barwon South West acting director of regional and clinical operations Jerome Peyton said people were already benefitting from the upgraded space.

“Facilities like these are an asset and will allow our crews to continue to respond to cases in the community for years to come.

“The new training space is a vast improvement and highlights our commitment to delivering best care through continued education for our paramedics and graduates.”

Local crews continued to operate out of the Ocean Grove Ambulance Station throughout construction.

Bellarine MP Alison Marchant last week celebrated the completion of the station upgrades, which were pledged by Labor ahead of the 2019 state poll.

“The upgrades at this station will assist our world-class local paramedics to deliver incredible care across the Bellarine Peninsula,” she said.

The Ocean Grove station is one of 46 new or upgraded ambulance stations delivered through a $280 million funding package from the state government aimed at providing better working conditions for paramedics and emergency care closer to home.
