Anam Cara Geelong use grant to enhance palliative care
ANAM Cara Geelong has been awarded a $400,000 grant from Hospice Foundation Geelong (HFG) to support its palliative care services at its Waurn Ponds Facility.
The contribution will be used to enhance the quality of care and comfort for guests and their families.
Anam Cara provides overnight and end-of-life care, a living well day program, bulk billed consultations and community outreach and equipment loans.
Anam Cara chief executive officer Vanessa McColl said her organisation could not express how thankful it was to the Hospice Foundation Geelong for its generosity.
“The grant reflects HFG’s genuine belief in our care model and the dedication of our staff and volunteers.
“Their support will truly make a difference in the lives of our guests and their families when they need it most.”
HFG were a matching donor during the recent Anam Cara Giving Day campaign and are a volunteer run organisation, committed to improving palliative care services in the Geelong region.
The Giving Day allowed for an extra six overnight and end-of-life bedrooms, expanding the facility’s capacity to 12 bedrooms.
HFG Board Chair Sue White said they are delighted to support Anam Cara with the grant.
“Their commitment to providing high-quality palliative care aligns perfectly with our mission and we are proud to contribute to their essential work.
“I look forward to seeing the positive impact this funding will have.”
Referrals to Anam Cara can be made by any medical practitioner, nursing staff, allied health practitioners, family, friends and those seeking care.
