THE Rippers Club at Cottage by the Sea has held another ripping summer drinks event for its members and guests to raise funds for the Queenscliff-based children’s charity.

The cottage’s group of supporters staged this year’s edition of the annual gathering last Saturday to help children and families experience opportunity, inspiration and fun.

In attendance was celebrity guest Matt Preston, who helped out by mixing up a cocktail creation, the “Santa Casa Cherry Bomb”, which was popular with all attendees.

Guests also heard from Cottage ambassadors and Rippers committee members Ian Cover and Phil de Fégely, who staged a spirited auction of a unique Lego boat, the Pilot Vessel Nepean from Port Phillip Sea Pilots, built by local artist Huw Joyce.

The recurring auction of the “Mermaid Denim” was again a huge hit, as was the Rippers Club fundraising Spinning Wheel.

Attendees charge their glasses to new cottage president Scott Chapman, who was recently appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia for his significant service to the Victorian community.
