Applications for Monica Hayes Award open soon

APPLICATIONS will open soon for the second Monica Hayes Award.

Committed and resourceful community activist Vicki Perrett won last year’s inaugural award, which was contended by a shortlist of five women.

The award honours Monica Hayes, a feminist, community leader and activist who died in August 2016 from motor neurone disease, and recognises the significant achievements and contributions of women to community life.

A cash prize and a unique glass art piece will be presented to the winner at the Northern Bellarine International Women’s Day brunch hosted by Terindah Estate on March 6.

Application forms are available at the Bendigo Bank in Portarlington in January.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday February 20.
