AUSTRALIAN cricket legend Alan Border AO was full of praise for the facility Lifestyle Communities has developed at Mt Duneed.

Border, who played 156 Tests for Australia and captained his country, was visiting the facility to speak to residents and promote Lifestyle Communities, which provides independent living for over-50s and is the major sponsor of Border’s new TV show On The Road with Alan Border.

The show takes viewers on a tour around Victoria as three groups of caravan explorers from three generations, Gen Y, Gen X and The Grey Nomads, go in search of the best places to visit in the state.

Border said the facilities he had seen at Lifestyle Communities were more like resort living rather than retirement living.

“If you start looking at retirement living, well it’s more like resort living for over-50s, it’s pretty special. I’ve been very impressed with Lifestyle Communities’ way of doing things,” Mr Border said.

“It’s a community and there’s all the different facilities you’d like.

“There’s 22 of these facilities over Victoria, so you’ve got a pretty wide choice, do you want the sea change or the tree change?”

Lifestyle Communities head of sales Richard Parker said Mr Border was a great fit for the company, with so many of its residents looking up to the cricket icon. He said to be able to team-up with Border and develop a connection was a fantastic opportunity.

“He’s an ideal fit for our kind of home owners, because he’s a generational hero, they really appreciated meeting Alan, he’s been really generous with his time,” Mr Parker said.

“It feels like a good fit, it’s great for us… to be linked with someone like Alan and for him to come down and really enjoy what we’re doing down here, to have him on board is just great.”
