Aussie day fur-fashion parade

There will be prizes for the best Aussie dressed dogs.

COMBINING fashion and furry friends, Portarlington’s Australia Day Dog Fashion Parade on Sunday, January 26 is encouraging owners and dogs to arrive dressed in all things “Aussie”.

Hosted byWoofers and Walkers Portarlington, this fun family event will be held at Rotunda foreshore, near the Portarlington Community Information Booth on Newcombe Street.

Come along dressed in all things Australiana with prizes awarded for best Aussie dressed dogs and owners; entrants need to assemble with their dogs around 9.45am allow time to sign on and be ready for a 10am start time.

Entrants will be given a number and when called will be invited to parade individually in front of the judges, stopping to command their dog to do a sit on the red paw mat.

Popular local judges Jayne Sedgmen (owner of clothing boutique Just Next Door) and Steve Cogger (Portarlington Demons) will return, bringing years of experience as the number one judges of dog fashion parade across the Bellarine.

The dog fashion parade together with local entertainers Portarlington Harmonica Band from 9.15am and later Brianna Ekberg at 11.15am, will form part of the Australia Day celebration and events around the Portarlington Rotunda.

A display of Holden cars will also be presented as part of Portarlington’s Monthly Market; head along and join in the fun this Australia Day.
