Award-winning brass band to return to Portarlington
THE award-winning Beaufort Municipal Brass Band will make its return to Portarlington tomorrow (Saturday, February 17) as part of the Portarlington Community Information Booth’s brass band concert series.
The free concert at the Portarlington Rotunda Bandstand will kick off at 11am and feature a fantastic program of classical, popular and modern brass numbers for the community to enjoy.
Beaufort Municipal Brass Band has been in operation since 1872 and is recognised as one of Victoria’s oldest bands.
The band has won and been placed in several Victorian Band Championships and has had great success at Royal South Street competitions at Ballarat’s Civic Hall.
They have also competed interstate at National Championships in South Australia and other States as well as regional eisteddfods such as Bendigo.
Portarlington Community Information Booth president, Phil Cameron said local traders and community were very excited for the band’s return.
“We are thrilled to welcome back the Beaufort Municipal Brass Band to play two one-hour concerts at 11am and 1pm,” he said.
“Those who attended last year’s concert enjoyed a fantastic program of popular, modern, and classical brass band numbers.
“The free concert is sponsored by Community Bank Portarlington (Bendigo Bank) and can be enjoyed from the many outdoor seating areas along Newcombe Street.
“A marquee will be available on our forecourt for those requiring shaded seating.”
