Band room to rock again at Barwon Heads
THE Barwon Heads Hotel will once again swing the doors of its iconic band room back open for live gigs.
A seven-year hiatus will come to an end on October 25 when Australian rock legends The Angels hit the stage at the much-loved watering hole.
The venue has recently installed an array of brand-new musical equipment in the room and is guaranteeing the acoustics will “rock audiences’ socks off.”
Barwon Heads Hotel venue and entertainment manager Luke Hindson said the return of the band room was about “giving music and entertainment back to the community.”
“We think you should be able to look forward to a night out during the depths of winter and have the opportunity to see bands and artists that you might only see in the capital cities,” he said.
“We are rapt that we will have it (the band room) back up and going. It just felt like something was missing without it.
“We’ve installed some amazing new PA equipment and it’s sounding really good.
“We will kick things off with The Angels in October and then can’t wait to see where it goes. We’ve got some exciting things in the pipeline.”
Mr Hindson said the band room would have a different vibe and different musician lineup than its sibling venue, the Torquay Hotel.
“The stage and the site lines of the Barwon Heads Hotel are really unique. It feels really grand and that feeds into a certain type of act,” Mr Hindson said.
“Grinspoon, who we will have come up in November, are a perfect act for Barwon Heads and its vibe. They were actually the last big show we had in there in 2017.
“The band room will not only feature plenty of the really big bands, like your Angels, Grinspoon and The Dreggs, but also some more experimental stuff.
“The local acts will also get their chance to show off their talents. There’s a real appetite for that, too.”
