Barwon Coast releases final Caravan and Camping Parks Master Plan

BARWON Coast has completed a comprehensive 10-year Master Plan for its managed caravan and camping parks, including Breamlea Caravan Park, Barwon Head Caravan Park, Riverview Family Caravan Park, and Riverside Campground in Ocean Grove.

Barwon Coast acting chief executive officer Paul Gangell said the organisation was pleased to share the final Caravan and Camping Parks Master Plan.

“Barwon Coast thanks every community member, community group and stakeholder group that provided their thoughts and feedback– your input helped shape the final Master Plan.”

The parks are not just recreational spots but also revenue sources for the maintenance of the local environment and infrastructure, catering to both locals and visitors.

Addressing challenges such as population growth, ageing infrastructure, and sea level rise, the Master Plan also attempts to balance the increasing demand for camping with the need for accessible visitor experiences.

“The caravan parks and campground we are responsible for managing are incredibly special places, and the community consultation period demonstrated the strong connection between community members and these special parts of the Barwon Coast reserve,” Mr Gangell said.

The development of the Master Plan was a collaborative effort, refined through inputs received during a six-week public consultation period.

Barwon Coast engaged extensively with the community, receiving 97 survey responses, 15 email submissions, and interacting with over 270 people at information sessions.

In line with its commitment to transparency, Barwon Coast has also released a Consultation Report.

This document details key feedback themes and illustrates how public input was instrumental in finalising the Master Plan.
