BCH celebrates its aged care employees
A DAY of fun activities headlined by a high tea to say thank you to its dedicated staff marked the perfect way to celebrate Aged Care Employee Day for Bellarine Community Health (BCH) last week.
Staff and clients gathered to recognise BCH employees for their caring work, supporting older people on the Bellarine.
“We’re encouraging everyone in the community to say thanks to not only our BCH staff but anyone who works in the aged care sector”, BCH executive director of Adult and Aged Services Karen Laing said.
BCH stated Aged Care Employee Day was an important day on the calendar, highlighting the crucial work of professional aged care workers.
“These staff members deserve our thanks for the work they do, and it’s been wonderful to be able to take the time and share an afternoon of celebrations with many of our team,” Ms Laing said.
Almost 60 per cent of BCH’s clients are over the age of 65, making it imperative for the service to provide top quality care to older residents.
BCH services on offer to older locals include allied health such as podiatry, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, social support programs, home care packages and the community nursing and palliative care team.
Aged Care Employee Day is celebrated annually on August 7 and is a National Day of Significance for the aged and community care workforce.
