A DATE for next year’s Bellarine Agricultural Show has been confirmed, taking place a year after this year’s event was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

The Bellarine Agricultural Society announced last month that the show would return to Portarlington Recreation Reserve on March 9, 2025.

Committee secretary Jenny Banks said with a concrete date now locked in, the show was in preparation mode and the committee was meeting once a month to communicate progress.

“We hope that mother nature plays it a bit nicer to us next year, and we’re looking forward to putting on a top level show next year,” Ms Banks said.

“This year we were preparing for a full show with a full array of stallholders, which made it all the more disappointing when we were forced to cancel, but we won’t let that hinder us for 2025 and we’ll be sure to make the event twice as big this time round.”

In what will be the second attempt at the 32nd Annual Bellarine Agricultural Show, the event is held over the Labour Day long weekend providing the greater community to spend part of their weekends on the Northern Bellarine.

The committee prides itself in replicating a traditional country show reflecting old-fashioned country values and it provides an important forum for the rural community to gather together to showcase their produce and items.

Participants in the day also get to share their skills and educate the wider community.

A raft of produce, art and handcrafts will be on display throughout the pavilions and also various demonstrations on offer from sheep-shearing to lace-making in line with the show’s theme of ‘Wool’.

“The community really supported us when we had to cancel this year’s show, a lot of people felt the pain of not being able to attend,” Ms Banks said.

“To have the community’s support for next year’s show is a big tick for us, these shows aren’t possible without the community’s support, and we can’t wait to welcome it back on March 9.”
