Coastal vision: Have your say on plan for northern Bellarine foreshore

January 23, 2020 BY

The draft CMMP will guide the management of the reserve over the next five years.

THERE is a little over a week left to have your say on the draft Northern Bellarine Coastal and Marine Management Plan (CMMP) developed by Bellarine Bayside Foreshore Committee of Management.

The Draft CMMP will guide the future protection, enhancement, development and management of 17 kilometres of northern Bellarine coastal Crown land reserve extending from Point Richards in Portarlington to Beach Road in St Leonards.

As part of this, the management plan has a goal to create and maintain an ‘attractive and tranquil’ environment, reflecting the heritage and character of the Portarlington, Indented Head and St Leonards areas.

It is also intended to create a ‘well-used’ coastal trail, allowing users to experience the natural ecology of the foreshore landscape.

Bellarine Bayside chief executive officer John Nankervis said consultation with the community, partner agencies, stakeholders and Traditional Owners had been integral to inform the planning process of the draft CMMP.

“Community consultation has been, and continues to be, an important part of this process to allow us to gain local insight.

“We encourage those who live, work or play on the northern Bellarine to provide us feedback on the draft CMMP so that we can ensure community aspirations are considered in the final plan.

A copy of the draft CMMP can be downloaded from Bellarine Bayside’s website (bellarinebayside.com.au), or you can obtain a printed copy from Bellarine Bayside’s office at 2 Sproat Street, Portarlington.

Submissions can be made by completing the online feedback form at surveymonkey.com/r/S5S7CLC.

Feedback will be received up until 5pm on January 31.
