FOR the second year running, Portarlington Football Netball Club (FNC) is excited to kickstart its year with the Bellarine Cup Day luncheon at Geelong Racing Club.

Portarlington FNC join forces with Batman Management Group to put on the luncheon, which will be held on January 24.

The day will be hosted by K rock’s Tom King with entertainment by The Piano Bar with drinks and a three-course luncheon on offer.

All fundraising efforts will go directly to the Portarlington FNC.

Portarlington FNC marketing and sponsorship director Darren Hellmann said it was a great opportunity to set a strong foundation leading into the football season, using the funds to boost the resources of their football and netball department.

“It’s an opportunity for us to earn a bit of money coming into the season,” Mr Hellmann said.

Eddy Kontelj, Paula Kontelj and Michael De Stefano were all smiles at last year’s Bellarine Cup.

“It takes a bit of pressure off financially and enables us to plan and purchase equipment for senior and junior football and netball teams.”

Mr Hellmann was hoping to see 200 people attend, a mixture of long-time club supporters and the general public, while the senior football and netball coaches will provide an insight into the club’s pre-season, recruitment and hopes for the upcoming season.

It is the fourth year Geelong Racing Club has held the Bellarine Cup and Club CEO Daniel Salter said he was pleased to be able to help support clubs like Portarlington, particularly after a year like 2020.

“It should be a fantastic day, hopefully we get some good weather and good racing,” Mr Salter said.

“It’s a really busy time for Bellarine people with everyone on holidays … to be able to help them get up and running is great.”

Patrons can purchase a table of 10 or buy individual tickets. For bookings and further information, contact Darren Hellmann on 0413 607 645 or visit grc.com.au.
