Bellarine North Rotary pleased with art show efforts
BELLARINE North Rotary Club has celebrated another successful Easter Weekend Art Expo, featuring a wide range of art and photography.
Rotarian and club member Caroline Rickard said she was astounded by the community support to put on the event, featuring 450 pieces of art from over 100 local artists at the beginning of the month.
“Last year my word for the year was to be “intentional”, whether it be catching up with people and making sure things were followed up,” Ms Rickard said.
“This year my word is “collaboration”. This became true for us with our club.
“To put together a show like this takes and army of people. Set ups, paintings in and out, selling the works, running the show over two days, providing refreshments from our café, pulling the boards down, returning trailers to storage is required for an event like this.”
Funds raised from commissions and entry to the expo will help the club contribute back to local organisations and an international project, assisting a Nepalese school build a playground.
Mr Rickard says local organisations such as Kinship Carers, Feed Me Bellarine, and Drysdale and Portarlington Food Banks are some of the recipients the rotary club will help.
“This year not only did we have our regular members, partners, family and friends, we were very grateful for members of the local Venturer group who came and helped lift the art boards into place and assisted with running paintings into the hall for hanging,” Ms Rickard said.
“Along with that, we had a parent and his sons from St Ignatius put aside their Easter Sunday afternoon to assist bringing paintings out from the hall for the artists.
“We always say many hands make like work from our club to everyone who assisted us provide another successful art expo, a very big thank you.”
