Bellarine swim centre celebrate big milestone
MORE than 300 people turned out to celebrate Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre’s 15th birthday.
Sunday’s free celebration event officially kicked off the City of Greater Geelong’s Summer of Fun swim series festival.
Family friendly games and activities including face painting, henna, glitter tattoos and a huge sausage sizzle featured on the day.
Locals also enjoyed live entertainment from DJ Ali and Disco Dome and feasted on a mega sized birthday cake to celebrate the big milestone.
Mayor Trent Sullivan said the celebration event was a great way to kick off an exciting summer by the water.
“The facility’s 15th birthday was a great reason to kick off our free Summer of Fun initiative at the Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre,” he said.
“Summer of Fun will get around to all of our aquatic centres during summer, including at the new Northern Aquatic and Community Hub.
“Each centre will have free entry, food and entertainment on selected Sundays throughout summer.”
The next Summer of Fun event will be held at Kardinia Aquatic Centre this Sunday (December 17).
