MORE than 4,000 people are expected to embrace all things agriculture at this weekend’s Bellarine Show.

Sunday’s (March 9) event at Portarlington Recreational Reserve will be jam-packed with loads of competitions, workshops and displays.

The popular woodchop challenge will return, as will the horse rings and gumboot toss.

There will be live hand and electric shearing demonstrations, tractor and trailer rides and a new miniature and pygmy goat competition.

Cattle, sheep, poultry, dogs and ducks will be on display, while a petting zoo will also feature.

Trade sites and emergency service workshops are also set to light up the venue, as will the popular and vintage machinery expo and display.

Local food and beverage vendors will be on hand to provide culinary delights.

Bellarine Show secretary Jenny Banks said this year’s show was highly anticipated for many reasons.

“We were all very disappointed with the cancellation last year, so just having the gates open and welcoming the public back to this much-loved event will be an achievement in itself.

“Of course, seeing so many smiling faces and hearing the excited chatter throughout the site is also very heartwarming and tells us that the Bellarine Show is a much-loved event and holds a special place in many people’s hearts.

“There really is something for everyone.”

The event will run from 9am to 3pm.
