GEELONG Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer Ben Flynn is stepping away from the role early next year.

Chamber president Dr John Stekelenburg announced today (Thursday, November 10) that the board had “reluctantly” accepted Mr Flynn’s resignation.

“Ben will be finishing at the end of March after four years in the role and taking six months off to travel around Australia with his young family before returning to Geelong in October 2023,” Mr Stekelenburg wrote in an update emailed to chamber members earlier today.

“Ben has made a significant contribution during his time and we will be sad to see him leave.

“Ben has worked hard to reinvigorate our services, advocate for the Geelong business community and ensure our long term sustainability by improving our financial performance.

“Ben’s ability to connect with our members has been outstanding and he is a trusted voice for local businesses.

“The chamber is in a really strong position and it’s been a pleasure to see Ben face all the challenges and grow our organisation.

“The board would like to thank Ben and wish him well on his journey. We know he will continue to be a part of the Chamber community.

“The chamber board will now begin the process of recruiting a new CEO for the position.”
