Big turnout for Easter fair
ABOUT 950 sausages, 200 egg and bacon rolls, 250 serves of nachos and 400 sticks of fairy floss were snapped up as the Barwon Heads Primary School Easter Fair returned on the weekend.

The much-loved event made its return after several years off the calendar, alongside the Sheepwash Classic Fun Run, as part of a renewed focus on reconnecting with long-standing school traditions.

The Barwon Heads community turned out in force for the family event, with more than 250 volunteers helping bring the day to life, including parents, local businesses, performers and community groups.

Community stalls were a highlight, with more than 100 homemade baked goods sold, $900 worth of wetsuits finding new homes and more than 60 jars of produce sold from the school garden.

The fair also exceeded fundraising expectations, with more than $26,000 raised to support school programs and opportunities for students.
Head of the organising committee Kristy Griffiths said the result reflected the strength of the local community.

“Watching the Barwon Heads Primary School Easter Fair come to life after lots of hard work from our team was incredible. The school was buzzing with excitement and full of smiling faces,” she said.

“Our focus was to create an event for our community, run by the community, and the feedback shows people of all ages really valued the chance to come together in support of our school.
“We’re so grateful to our sponsors, volunteers and everyone who came along – you all made the fair a wonderful success.”
