Birthday approaches for Surfside, but where’s the time capsule?

April 26, 2018 BY

Original student Abbey with kids Sophie, Jessica and John dig for the time capsule.

Surfside Primary School will celebrate its 25th birthday next week with a day full of celebrations.

A pancake breakfast with pupils and families will kick off festivities on Friday May 4, followed by a whole school assembly with a visit from the school’s first principal Lindsay Fisher and a birthday cake.

There will be an art show by pupils and school tours will take place throughout the day for past pupils and parents who would like to see their former classrooms or teacher.

The day will wind-up with a Back to Surfside 25th Reunion (18 years and over) in the Surfside Primary School Hall.

On the night there will also be memorabilia on display and the opportunity to catch up with past staff, pupils and parents.

But while the school community is very excited, they’ve hit a small snag, they can’t locate a time capsule hat was buried on the school grounds.

They’ve been looking for clues from any foundation staff, parents or pupils who can help point them in the right direction.

The Back to Surfside 25th Reunion will take place between 7.30pm and 9.30pm, and tickets cost $10 and can be booked via Event Brite at tinyurl.com/surf5354 or can be purchased directly at the office prior to the day.

The celebrations mark the school’s first day of operation at the John Dory site.
