QUEENSCLIFF’S upgraded boat ramp is due to open this weekend as crews apply the finishing touches to the multi-million-dollar project.

Workers were close to finishing laying down asphalt at the site and were preparing to roll out linemarking paint in a project update shared last week.

State agency Better Boating Victoria (BBV) indicated this week a third boat ramp and floating pontoons were in place, with asphalting and linemarking finished in the main car park.

Final inspections in the coming days are expected to clear the facility to reopen to local boaters during this weekend.

Bellarine MP Lisa Neville said she was excited to see the works almost complete.

“Upgrade works include a new concrete ramp surface, an extra lane and new pontoons to make getting out on the water so much easier for those that start their day on the water here at Queenscliff,” she said.

The stage-two upgrade started in mid-March, with the ramp closed while crews were on site.

It comes after builders last year finished the first stage of the project, which included formalising an overflow car park to include 33 trailer parks and dredged the nearby ocean floor.

The state government invested $4.5 million to complete the upgrade over its two stages.
