MUSICIANS, venues and festivals across Victoria will benefit from a $3 million boost to the industry, including those in the Geelong region.
The Bellarine will benefit from a share in the latest round of 10,000 Gigs: Victorian Gig Fund, with three local venues awarded a cut.
Bellarine MP Alison Marchant announced this week that Bellarine Estate, The Blues Train and Queenscliff Town Hall were recipients of the funding.
“The Bellarine is a hub for live music, with iconic venues and festivals lighting up across the peninsula and this investment will help keep that local energy alive, while supporting local artists and businesses,” she said.
The Live Music Festivals Fund, delivered by Music Victoria, fund will support 11 festivals across the state to help new or existing events, with the Queenscliff Music Festival a local recipient.
More artists across Victoria will also have the opportunity to develop their career with the Multicultural Arts Victoria’s NEWPRINT program.
The program is designed to support artists, producers and creative workers to break into the music industry.
“We’re backing our artists, venues and festivals to continue delivering the incredible music, performances and events that form part of our cultural fabric and make us the music capital of Australia,” Minister for Creative Industries Colin Brooks said.
“We’re ensuring our live music scene takes centre stage, while supporting jobs in this important part of our $42 billion creative economy.”
The grants are part of the Victorian State Budget 2023/24 to support Victoria’s music industry.
