November 4, 2020 BY

Fleur Hewitt, Michael Grout and Donnie Grigau are among the five people elected for the Borough of Queenscliffe council.

A TRIO of first-time councillors have joined two returning councillors to form the new five-seat Borough of Queenscliffe council.

The Victorian Electoral Commission officially declared the result of the council election earlier this afternoon.

The successful candidates elected to Council are Ross Ebbels, Donnie Grigau, Michael Grout, Susan Slater and Fleur Hewitt.

Borough of Queenscliffe chief executive officer Martin Gill congratulated the new Councillors and thanked all of the candidates who put up their hand for election.

“I’d like to give a warm welcome to the new Councillors, as well as those who are returning,” Mr Gill said.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with the new Council as we navigate the impacts of the pandemic, implement the new Local Government Act, and continue to progress a number of important projects.”

The VEC announced the result at 4pm today (Wednesday, November 4) at Queenscliff Town Hall.

It followed a period of 43 days since nominations closed for the Borough of Queenscliffe election, where a total of 11 candidates nominated for five vacancies.
