Borough residents to enjoy traditional lighting
THE borough’s annual tree lighting is fast approaching and Christmas can not come early enough for Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale residents.
The municipality’s 45-metre-high heritage-listed Point Lonsdale ‘Christmas Tree’ lighting event will return to its traditional format after two years of COVID-impacted proceedings.
The tree has been lit for more than half a century, and this year all are invited to make their way to Volunteers Park, Point Lonsdale on December 3, to be part of the event which Santa Claus will lead from 7pm.
“Christmas is well and truly on its way so it’s wonderful that this year we are able to celebrate together with our return to traditional arrangements for the lighting of our heritage listed ‘Christmas Tree’ in Point Lonsdale,” Cr Ross Ebbles said.
The night will include carols, and food vans.
“I know I’m close to home when I can see our twinkling tree from Marcus Hill.”
The borough has confirmed that if the weather is inclement, the event will be moved inside to the Point Lonsdale Primary School Hall.
