Bubbles and balloons help raise money for good cause
LADIES armed with bubbles and balloons converged at Barwon Heads Football and Netball Club at the weekend to raise money for a good cause.
About 80 women dressed in a touch of white attended the club’s annual Ladies Day at Howard Harmer oval on Saturday, which this year raised money for ovarian cancer research.
Organiser Aleisha Walters said players and their sisters, mums, aunties, friends and daughters joined in for the fun-filled afternoon that hoped to raise about $1,000 for the cause.
“It was a really nice day,” Ms Walters said.
“There was amazing food on the grazing table, music and punches, and while the weather was quite cold, we got out on the balcony to watch the game when we could.
“We were given some amazing donations and we did things a bit differently this year.
“Everyone got a balloon on their way in and then we popped them at the end of the event, and those with a ticket inside, won a prize.
“It was a fun and different way of doing it.”
