FUNDS raised from an Oaks Day fundraising event in Queenscliff last week will help the education of disadvantaged children.

The Ocean Grove Evening View Club (OGEV), which has grown from a small group of women four years ago to about 150 members, held the VRC Oaks Day celebration at Queenscliff’s 360Q event on Thursday. The OGEV Club is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs and $20 per person, from the $120 per person all-inclusive Oaks Day luncheon, will help disadvantaged children.

A 50-inch TV was added to the venue’s facilities to ensure the guests could watch the races held at Flemington racecourse.

Other key elements of Queenscliff’s 360Q VRC Oaks event was “free-flowing bubbles, wine and beer all afternoon” to complement a delicious threecourse lunch (prepared by Chef Mathew Hallam) and live entertainment by a local “singer, songwriter, acoustic guitarist” and local Peninsula boy Ken Vis.

Organised sweeps put winner grins on the faces of the majority of the crowd.

OGEV Club appreciates the monetary donation from 360Q, which will go towards supporting the education of disadvantaged students.
