ST LEONARDS Fire Brigade is on the search for a new home after receiving an $800,000 funding commitment in the 2018-19 Victorian Budget.

Bellarine MP Lisa Neville visited the brigade on Monday to announce the start of the redevelopment of the fire
station.

St Leonards Fire Brigade was founded in 1943, and has 19 volunteer members.

It protects the neighbouring townships of St Leonards and Indented Head.

Ms Neville said the station no longer met the needs of the growing residential populations in St Leonards and Indented Head, which more than double in size during the summer holiday period.

“I congratulate all brigade members, as this $800,000 commitment is just reward for their years of dedicated service,” she said.

“The volunteers at St Leonardsn Fire Brigade have a proud history of responding to emergencies and keeping people safe.

“This funding announcement is a significant contribution towards redeveloping the fire station, ensuring the brigade will continue protecting the St Leonards and Indented Head communities for many years to come.”

Ms Neville also took the opportunity to thank the volunteers for their dedicated service to the community.

She said she looked forward to working with the brigade and CFA management to find an appropriate site for a modern, fit-for-purpose station.
