Builder appointed for Grovedale College upgrade

January 4, 2018 BY

THE $7.5 million upgrade of Grovedale College is getting closer, with the announcement of a builder for the works.

Rendine Construction Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract for the upgrade, which will extend the performing arts building and gymnasium, reconfiguring the school’s natural landscape, gardens and courtyard spaces, upgrading of the canteen and minor changes to the car park.

Melbourne architectural firm 1:1 Architects was previously appointed to design the project at the secondary school in Wingarra Drive.

Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney announced the appointment in December, and said construction would start soon.

“It has been a pleasure working closely with Grovedale College to make this project a reality – I congratulate all involved for their commitment to their school.

“We said we would build the Education State at Grovedale, and soon our community will finally have the modern facilities they deserve to better meet the needs of students and teachers.”

The project is part of a $2.5 billion investment by the state government to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state.

This has led to more than 1,000 school upgrades and 56 new school projects across the state, supporting almost 5,000 construction jobs.

Minister for Education James Merlino said his government was making a record investment in school infrastructure to ensure that all Victorian students had the opportunity get a first class education that would help them on their path to a great career.
