Bus challenge winners announced
THE success of the ‘Use It or Lose It’ bus campaign was clear at a recent wrap-up event in Portarlington, where eight lucky winners of $100 myki cards were announced.
Local councillor Jim Mason awarded the lucky locals with their prizes, which were a great reward for their efforts to swap the car for the bus during the past few months.
The Northern Bellarine Transport Action Group (NBTAG) are thrilled with the campaign’s success and are keen to keep things moving as they start to plan their next steps.
They urge locals to stay involved and keep using the bus service.
“The support from our community, local council and Bellarine Community Health mean we are able to have real effects on our local bus service,” NBTAG co-convenor Ken Foxcroft said.
“We will keep working towards a strong and user-friendly bus service for the Northern Bellarine.”
Members of the Portarlington Ukulele Collective, who’ve been greater supporters of the bus challenge, helped entertain those who attended the campaign wrap party.
The campaign has been proudly supported by Bellarine Community Health and its Healthy Communities Team.
The project has also been supported by the City of Greater Geelong’s through its Healthy and Connected Communities Program.
