Business makes a difference and gives back
MARCUS Savidis from Savi Solutions started his career in a big way, being appointed the state manager for ANZ banking group at the age of just 21.
After being in a high-profile position, the pressures of the job took its toll and he was struck down by severe health struggles at 22. He found himself bedridden, on the disability pension for eight years, and becoming strongly suicidal.
Consistent mental health remained a key challenge for him. During the darkest of these times, Mr Savidis vowed that if and when he could dig himself out of the dark place he’d found himself in, he would do something about mental health/ suicide prevention to help others in a similar state of hopelessness and despair.
He now runs his own sales training and coaching business, where 10 per cent of the proceeds of selected trainings go toward suicide prevention in the hopes that people won’t find themselves in the situation he was in, and has raised more than $3,000 so far.
“Every business needs sales support, by running trainings on this topic, it gives me a wide audience to then raise money and awareness for this critical topic,” he said.
“Over 2,500 Australians committed suicide last year alone; that’s eight per day! This issue is trending horribly as the stats are getting worse not better. Something needs to be done yesterday if not sooner on this.”
The most recent training run to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention took place earlier this month.
“Another $1,250 was raised, which was donated to the Hello Hurricane Foundation for the excellent work they do in giving physical, mental and emotional resilience to highly influential young people before the issues relating to suicide start,” Mr Savidis said.
The training itself was on a topic that everyone can benefit from – the art and power of eliminating blockages and limiting beliefs so that you can “sell yourself” in a powerful, grounded and authentic way.
Other trainings offered by Savi Solutions include “The Behavioural Code”, which teaches the hidden patterns and code lying within every interaction people have so that you are then able to optimise your effectiveness in all situations; and “The Conversation Code” which ethically teaches conversation mastery for maximum conversion.
