Buy Surf Coast campaign launched
THE Surf Coast Business Collective has launched their ‘Buy Surf Coast’ campaign to support local businesses amid the difficulties posed by coronavirus.
The campaign seeks to learn more about what changes Surf Coast businesses are making to adapt to these challenges, while also creating an online directory where consumers can see what local businesses are open and how the services they provide may have changed.
Cr David Bell encouraged people to support local businesses during these times.
“The impact on businesses has been very tough. How can you help? By buying local wherever you can,” he said.
“You can now get fresh produce, meals, books and puzzles delivered to your door. Some local businesses are offering online consultations, even online dance classes.
“We know how fast things are changing, so as conditions change and businesses continue to adapt, the website will be updated.”
The collective is running a ‘Taking Care of Business’ survey that includes questions on the hours businesses are operating and the services they are providing.
The Surf Coast Business Collective said businesses have been eager to respond to their survey.
The collective is also encouraging businesses to work together. People are encouraged to visit the website and add any marketing, counselling or finance and accounting businesses they feel other local businesses may benefit from working with.
Cr Bell said co-operation was crucial.
“We’re all in this together so we need to look out for each other.”
To see the businesses that are still open, along with the changes they have made in their working hours and how they do business, head to Surf Coast Business Collective’s new website buysurfcoast.com.
Local residents are also invited to share information about the local businesses they use and support.
Residents can do so by emailing [email protected] or [email protected].
