C4K unite for Camp Quality

CAR and motorbike enthusiasts are revving their engines as they prepare to hit the open road for this year’s C4K Unite Ride and Conquer on the Bellarine.

The event, which will take place this Sunday, December 14, supports Camp Quality in helping those who are facing childhood cancer.

Departing from Club Italia on the Bellarine Highway, participants will make their way around the Peninsula, before arriving at the Queenscliff Foreshore Parkland.

Event organiser Michael Carlini said the event was all community-minded with everyone wanting to do as much as they could for Camp Quality.

The event helps raise fund for Camp Quality and supporting those who are facing childhood cancer.

“There’s so many kids that are diagnosed with cancer or going through chemo, Camp Quality is there to support these guys.

“Raising money for them then helps them get away with their families, because we don’t know where the diagnosis is – some could be terminal.”

Carlini is hoping the event would attract around 400 people for the ride, which would be a big step up compared to last year’s numbers.

Last year’s event raised close to $5,500 for the charity, with this year’s event looking to generate even more money.

In past years, the ride has also welcomed people who have been through the Camp Quality process and understand the importance of the fundraising efforts.

“You get to meet people and they just come up and say thank you,” Carlini said.

“We’ve had Camp Quality and we’ve been away to a function with them and to hear the stories, they got to go to Luna Park with their kid for a day, supported, it’s good to hear they got those memories that they can remember if it gets to that part of their life.”

The cars will depart at 10am and conclude in Queenscliff for a celebration with a Camp Quality barbecue, live music and food trucks.
