Canoeing helps students connect to community

ST Leonards Primary School pupils have been connecting with their community and the environment during canoeing sessions.

The children took to the water a couple of weeks ago, and again this week, thanks to some funding from Bendigo Bank.

“Our first session was a wonderful experience,” principal Jenny Cowburn said.

“As well as the environmental knowledge and the opportunity to learn canoeing skills, there was a lot of team work involved, which was something that pupils commented on.

“They had to collaborate to get going, while they were canoeing and to pack up afterwards.”
