Cars and coffee raises more than $1,500 for vision
A FUNDRAISING event in Drysdale at the weekend has raised more than $1,500 for Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision.
Old Skool Street Cars Geelong hosted a “Cars and Coffee” event on Sunday at Autopro Drysdale, which featured about 90 Australian and American muscle cars, barbecue breakfast, coffee vans, and a raffle.
Curlewis youngster Indyanna Harper, who was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia early last year, was the inspiration for the fundraiser.
Indyanna and her family hoped the fundraising event would help raise much needed funds and awareness about bone marrow failure.
James Cooper said Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision had been amazing with support for his step daughter Indyanna and keeping her strong.
Mr Cooper said the event went very well and that he was looking at helping organise another bigger fundraiser later in the year.
All proceeds from the event will go to Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision, which was established to help adolescents and young adults suffering from bone marrow failure syndromes through research and providing support into treatments, prevention and with an aim to find a cure.
In February 2015, 26-year-old Maddie Riewoldt lost her five-year battle with aplastic anaemia, and to honour their daughter and sister’s fight, the Riewoldt family established Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision.
