Cash to fly at Grubbers golf ball drop
OCEAN Grove Football Netball Club’s annual golf ball drop fundraising event is back, and one lucky winner will become $15,000 richer.
Hundreds of golf balls will be dropped by helicopter onto Ray Menzies Oval at the April 22 event, with the four closest to the pin being awarded some outstanding prizes.
The first prize winner will take home $15,000 in selected vouchers, second place will receive a $1,500 Hello World Voucher, third prize is a 30-minute scenic Geelong Helicopters Joy Flight (retailed at $750), and fourth place will win a $200 voucher from Driftwood Café.
Ocean Grove Football Netball Club secretary Simon Jarvis said the event was a fun and inclusive way for locals to support the club.
“Last year was our first one and it was a pretty big day with the helicopter flying over and dropping the balls… it was pretty exciting,” Jarvis said.
“We’ve got a couple of weeks to still sell tickets and we certainly hope plenty of people come down to see the drop and our game against Geelong Amateur.
“Hopefully we get a big crowd, have a win and the helicopter drop creates a big buzz.”
Jarvis said the fundraising target for the event would be around $50,000, with the hope that it can help assist with the overall running of the club.
“We haven’t targeted anything specific; it’ll just be an across-the-board response.
“Generally, it just goes into the running of the club with things like apparel, supporting juniors and covering all of the football and netball.”
The club also has a long-term goal to improve their Memorial Drive facilities and to increase Girls Junior Football participation.
Official ticket sales will close at 1.30pm on April 22, with the drop occuring at 2pm.
Tickets are $25 and are available at raffletix.com.au/golfballdrop23
