Children’s book to be launched in Torquay

December 8, 2017 BY

LOCAL author Juliet Williams will launch her new picture book, Missing Pinky, at a free event today (Thursday) at Torquay Library.

Lucy’s beloved blanket Pinky, made by her grandma, has gone missing!

She’s desperate to find Pinky, so she looks in all the usual places and then in some more unusual places.

Where could her special blanket be? And who will help her find Pinky?

Children are invited to bring along their own blanket to the launch of Missing Pinky – Mrs Williams’ second book and her first with illustrator Luisa Gioffre-Suzuki.

According to her website, Mrs Williams lives on 10 acres with two children, one husband and two spotty horses, a mad dog and a mad pup, five chooks and a very spoilt ginger cat called Bobcat.

She grew up in Warrnambool and loves eating anything her mum cooks, chocolate and eggs (not together though, unless they are chocolate eggs).

Her favourite things to do include thinking of stories to write – her first book, The Giggle Gum Tree, was published in 2009 – riding her super horse Rosie, drinking cups of tea and reading a book that is so good her tea goes cold.

Ms Luisa Gioffre-Suzuki lives on the Surf Coast, after many years living and working in Japan. A member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), she has illustrated several books including Willard the Dragon and Camp Dragonfire (4RV Publishing), all the while in search of the ultimate cup of coffee.

Her work is showcased on websites The Style File and Illustrators Australia.

The launch will be held at Torquay Library today (Thursday) from 4.30-5.30pm.
