Choral festival to mark Remembrance Day

November 1, 2018 BY

All funds raised from the Remembrance Day event will go to Geelong Legacy.

THE Barwon Heads Fine Music Society invites choir lovers to join the audience on November 11 for the second annual Bellarine Choral Festival, to be held at the Barwon Heads Community Hall from 2.30pm.

The six local choirs – the Coryule Chorus, U3A Choir, Geelong Sings, Surfside Singers Torquay, the Bellarine Community Choir and the Barwon Heads Chorale – will perform a wide variety of repertoire, culminating in a mass ensemble finale.

All funds raised from this Remembrance Day event will go to Geelong Legacy, supporting exservice widows and their families.

“We are just so grateful to all these musicians for volunteering their time, and for such a worthy cause,”

Barwon Heads Fine Music Society president Jenny Wallace-Smith said.

“We are also grateful to the wonderful choir members who put on the scrumptious afternoon tea following the event – presenting an opportunity for singers to mingle and talk all things choir with like minded community members.

“Last year’s festival was a great success. With more choirs joining us this year the opportunity to get so many singers in the one space is incredibly exciting. The combined sound at the end of the concert will blow the roof off – we’ll need to apply for another government grant for the Hall!”
