Dublin meets Fitzroy in Geelong at Murphys

October 11, 2019 BY

With a friendly pub atmosphere, there is now something for everyone at Murphys.

Murphys is one of Geelong’s oldest pubs and is filled with history, character and charm.

Since four mates (Tom, Shaun, Ian & Daniel) took over the building in 2016 they have done some major renovations, including a rooftop bar.

With a friendly pub atmosphere, there is now something for everyone – a vibrant front bar, restaurant and dual level rooftop bar.

Since opening the rooftop bar to the public in 2018, which includes both a  rooftop terrace and third level sky garden providing uninterrupted views of  Corio Bay, the You Yangs and even the city of Melbourne, it has no doubt become Geelong’s go-to venue and premier rooftop bar.

Co-owner Shaun Aspinall said that after two years of research – to more than 50 venues in Melbourne and overseas – the inspiration of the revamped venue was a Dublin-meets-Fitzroy vibe.

“If you go to an Irish pub in Dublin, it wouldn’t have ‘Irish’ in the name. We are unmistakably and unashamedly an Australian pub too – Dublin meets Fitzroy.

“We have worked really hard at creating the right vibe in the Venue and on everything that makes pubs great – friendly staff, live music, sports, quality pub meals and plenty of beers, wines, cocktails and spirits. We are genuinely passionate about creating  a great customer experience and you won’t find any pokies or TAB.”

Centrally located on Aberdeen Street with a private carpark at the rear, Murphys is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week from 12pm till late.

The award-winning restaurant brings a flavour-packed lunch and dinner menu with an extensive offering including starters, pub classics such as Geelong’s best parmi, beef and Guinness pie, steaks, burgers and more.
