CHRISTMAS CHEER IN COLAC OTWAY SHIRE
Lucky stars are waiting to be discovered in Colac and Apollo Bay shops in the days leading up to Christmas, with $50 prizes on offer each week.
The launch of Colac Otway Shire’s Christmas campaign aims to promote Christmas shopping in the shire, encouraging community members to support local businesses.
Council will also provide decorations to businesses in 10 communities, spreading Christmas spirit to some of the smallest towns in the area.
Colac Otway Shire Mayor Jason Schram said the Lucky Star Competition has returned to partner council with local businesses.
“Council has been working alongside the Apollo Bay Chamber of Commerce, Colac Chamber of Commerce and local business people in the lead-up to the Christmas shopping season to host the competition and decorate businesses across the shire,” Cr Schram said.
“There is no cost to traders and this year’s reusable decorations are just the start, with plans for banners and more in the future.
“There will be a consistent festive design and theme in Colac, Apollo Bay, Forrest, Gellibrand, Skenes Creek, Beeac, Barongarook, Cororooke, Lavers Hill and Pirron Yallock,” he said.
Cr Schram noted the Lucky Star Competition provides an opportunity for families to enjoy their shopping experience, with $50 prizes for children each week in Colac and Apollo Bay.
“There will be a Lucky Star hidden in a business in the two shopping centres; and locations change each week,” he said.
