Christmas trees on sale from this weekend, scout’s honour
THE Ocean Grove Scout Group has experienced an increase in pre-order sales for their Christmas trees compared to the same time last year.
The scout group will hold its annual Christmas tree sale on Saturday December 1 and Saturday December 8 from the Ocean Grove Park, and the Bunnings carpark in Leopold on Saturday December 1, Sunday December 2, Saturday December 8 and Sunday December 9.
Parent helper Michelle Rolfe said, “We think families are after that traditional smell in their homes and the experience of having a real tree is something you just have to do every once and a while for the kids!”.
“The days in the Ocean Grove Park are going to be fun with an appearance from Santa scheduled, as well as a stall set-up at Bunnings Leopold so get down there early and make sure you don’t miss out.”
Ms Rolfe said sit back and let the scouts handle it all – they can pick your tree, deliver it, and even collect it in the first week of January and dispose of it. The Christmas tree sale is the group’s major fundraiser for the year, enabling them to provide their Joey, Cub and Scout youth members with a variety of fun, exciting and challenging activities throughout the year.
Christmas tree prices start at $55 (up to sixfoot tree) and then increase in price by $5 per foot after that.
The Ocean Grove Scout Group also offers a pick-up service after Christmas to recycle your tree – simply register for the pick-up service (either at the park, Bunnings or online) and then leave your tree out for collection on Saturday January 5, 2019. A flat fee of $10 covers pick-up and recycling of your tree in all zones.
