City comes to life at after dark

FOR the fifth year running, Geelong After Dark has transformed the city’s streets into living and breathing works of art.

The multi-sensory event is a unique celebration of the arts, where artists explore new technologies using the cityscape as their canvas.

Interactive experiences include projections on buildings and walls; installations and street art down laneways; theatre on street corners; music on steps and under balconies and costumed characters in buildings alongside illuminations in the park.

This combined with music and dancing in public spaces sees over 18,000 people converge on the town centre.

Minister for tourism and events John Eren launched Geelong After Dark in the forecourt of Barwon Water and said it was another chance to attract visitors to the town.

“Geelong After Dark is a wonderful opportunity to welcome more visitors to our region, support jobs and generate more business for our restaurants, bars and clubs,” Mr Eren said.

“Geelong has proved time and time again that it can put on a show, which is why we can’t wait to bring White Night here in October.”
