City launches new climate site

THE City of Greater Geelong has launched a new interactive climate site in an effort to provide the community with a resource to address the climate crisis.

It is one of several dashboards and interactive sites the city has launched in recent months as they look for new ways to engage with residents.

On the site, users can find information about renewable energy projects, conservation efforts to save local plants and animals and other information about climate change.

Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan said the site was an important resource.

“It’s more than just showing off what we’ve done so far.

“It’s a way for everyone to learn about how we’re tackling climate change together.

“The interactive site provides an opportunity for the community to be a part of the solution by increasing their understanding about different projects, like using more clean energy, protecting nature, and spreading awareness about climate change.”

Councillor Peter Murrihy said the site would bolster collective efforts.

“By working together and making real changes, we can make a big difference for the future of our region.

“While the ‘Our Climate Actions’ interactive site doesn’t cover everything we’re doing, we’ll keep updating it regularly.

“In addition, we’ll share progress reports as we aim to reach our goal of having zero emissions across the whole municipality by 2035.

“The city would like everyone in our community to get involved and see the innovative projects and ideas we’ve put into action.”
