THE City of Greater Geelong is calling on those interested in the opportunity to licence the Ocean Grove Memorial Reserve pavilion to submit a proposal for how the site could be used.

Opened on Monday, the city has launched an expression of interest submission process to invite interested community and sporting groups to share their ideas on how the space can be activated for the benefit of the community.

The city is open to all proposals for the pavilion that demonstrate positive outcomes for the local community, including recreational activities, arts or culture use, community meeting and program spaces, or youth services.

Through this expression of interest process, the city hopes to maximise use of the pavilion, expand the services available to the community and establish both a sustainable future for and management of the site’s facilities.

The city’s executive director of city life Anthony Basford said the possibilities for the space are endless.

“The hall at the Ocean Grove Memorial Reserve currently hosts pickleball, badminton, table tennis and calisthenics, with the pavilion being used as overflow for the hall,” he said.

“We want Ocean Grove and the Bellarine to be able to make the most of the pavilion, so our ideal candidate would be an organisation who can facilitate and maximise bookings from the community across weekdays, weekends and evenings.

“It could be used by any number of community groups who require a meeting space with kitchen facilities, and we look forward to the pavilion becoming an even better community space.”

The community is also invited to share their thoughts on the city’s intention to enter into an agreement with a successful respondent.
