Clifton Springs boat harbour being dredged
DREDGING operations are expected to end today (Friday, March 29) in Clifton Springs boat harbour to address the harbour’s shallow conditions, particularly after storms brought sand and seagrass deposits.
Vessel operators are urged to exercise caution during any dredging, especially when tide levels drop below 0.4 metres, which could challenge vessels with deeper drafts entering or leaving the harbour.
In addition to the dredging, which started on Wednesday last week, the harbour area will see construction works from March to July.
These developments, funded by the Victorian government and overseen by the City of Greater Geelong aim to enhance the area’s facilities.
Planned improvements include a new car and trailer park on reclaimed land near the new boat ramps and a roundabout at the Jetty Road and Bay Shore Avenue intersection to improve traffic flow.
The city issued a statement advising that the public should anticipate construction traffic and temporary changes to harbour access.
